Bono Regional Coordinating Director Visits Jaman North District Assembly

The Bono Regional Coordinating Director, Mr. Andrews Mensah paid a familiarization visit to the Jaman North District Assembly on Tuesday, June 18th, 2024. Accompanying him were the Regional Human Resource Manager and the Regional Chief Environmental Health Officer. The event was attended by various heads of departments, units, and staff of the Jaman North District Assembly.

The program commenced with an opening prayer led by Mr. Eric Akola from the Social Welfare and Community Development department. Following the prayer, the Master of Ceremonies, Mr. Benjamin Nkansah, who is also the Human Resource Manager for Jaman North District Assembly, introduced the staffs present.

The welcome address was delivered by the District Coordinating Director for Jaman North District Assembly, Mr. Alfred Cyril Lumor. He highlighted the staff strength, the working environment, and the challenges faced by the Assembly. Mr. Lumor concluded his address by introducing the Regional Coordinating Director.

The Regional Coordinating Director began his speech by extending greetings from the Regional Minister and the Regional Coordinating Council. He shared his personal connection to the area, being a native of Kokoa, a community within the Jaman North District. The Director advised the staff to be grateful for their employment and emphasized the importance of working diligently to uplift the District’s image. He urged staff to avoid involvement in local chieftaincy disputes and to plan for their future by investing wisely.

Following the Director’s address, representatives from the Departments of Agriculture, Education, and Health delivered their speeches.

The Acting District Director of Agriculture, Mr. Frederick Boo, provided an overview of the department’s performance and the benefits farmers have received from their programs. He appealed to the Regional Director for additional staff postings to improve their operations.

The District Health Director gave a positive account of the health services in the district. He noted that Jaman North, being considered a deprived district, offers certain benefits to staff who accept postings to the district, such as accelerated promotions. However, he highlighted the high staff attrition rate and appealed to the Regional Coordinating Director to address the staffing shortfall.

Mr. Asante Nyarko, the District Education Director, spoke about the achievements and support from the District Assembly, including infrastructure improvements and academic support. He also mentioned challenges such as teachers with fake certificates, staff attrition, and minimal teaching hours for some teachers. He therefore made an appeal to the Regional Cooord. Director to help address these challenges.

The program concluded with an open forum, allowing staff to ask questions and discuss issues.

The visit by the Bono Regional Coordinating Director was a significant event, reinforcing the collaborative efforts to address the challenges and improve the working environment within the Jaman North District Assembly.
