JAMAN NORTH DISTRICT ASSEMBLY HOLDS ORIENTATION AND TRAINING WORKSHOP FOR ASSEMBLY MEMBERS
As part of the Government’s efforts to deepen democracy and enhance development at the local level, the Institute of Local Government organized a two-day orientation and training workshop for the Assembly Members of the Jaman North District. The event, which took place on 30th September and 1st August 2024, was aimed at educating Assembly Members on Ghana’s Decentralization Policy and the Local Governance System.
The workshop saw the participation of all twenty-seven elected Assembly Members, alongside twelve appointed representatives. The program was held at the Jaman North District Assembly Hall, starting from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm on the first day and 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on the second day.
Three officials from the Institute of Local Government Service facilitated the workshop, providing insightful training to both elected and appointed Assembly Members. They shared extensive knowledge on the Local Governance System, focusing on the critical roles that institutions and stakeholders play in ensuring the successful implementation of Ghana’s Decentralization Policy.
This interactive training session served as a valuable tool for enhancing the understanding of participants regarding their roles and responsibilities within the district assembly structure. It also equipped them with the skills necessary to effectively represent their communities and contribute to the development of the district.
The Jaman North District Assembly is optimistic that this training will significantly boost the capacities of the various Assembly Members, improving their ability to execute their duties and advancing local development efforts.
The Assembly remains committed to supporting similar initiatives that promote good governance, transparency, and inclusive participation for the benefit of the entire district.
