Jaman North District Assembly Presented 1,000 Desks And Assorted Textbooks To The District Education Directorate For Onwards Distribution to Schools
The District Chief Executive for Jaman North District, Hon. Solomon Owusu in the company of the District Co-ordinating Director and staff, the NPP Constituency Chairman, Mr. Alhaji Barus and other Dignitaries has on 14th June, 2023 presented 1,000 Desks and assorted Text Books to the District Education Directorate for onward distribution to some Basic and Senior High Schools in the District.
In presenting the items, Hon. Solomon Owusu stated that, the Assembly in the quest to solve the furniture deficit in schools across the District has used part of its IGF to procure furniture for distribution to the affected schools. He further indicated that the distribution of the items which included assorted textbooks he lobbied for are attempts towards ensuring quality education in order to enhance the socio-economic development of the District.
He assured the people on NPP’s agenda to transform the educational sector and commended the Government in pursuing this agenda rigorously. The management and staff of Jaman North District Assembly were also commended for supporting his Government’s idea by allocating part of the IGF towards implementing this initiative.
The District Chief Executive stated that the Assembly has also allocated part of the IGF for reshaping and re-graveling of some selected roads in addition to investing in educational infrastructure development.
He also informed the Education Directorate that the District Assembly has planned to repair all the broken down furniture in schools after an assessment is conducted on them by the Works Department.
Receiving the items, the District Director of Education, Mr. Douglas Asante thanked the Assembly and Government for their efforts in raising the status of Education High in the District.
He assured the District Chief Executive and the Assembly that, the items received would be put to good use.
