Development control

As part of guiding and shaping development in the Jaman North District, the Planning and Building inspectorate unit embarked on their weekly monitoring of developments in Kokoa community to ensure their developmental activities conformed to the local plans.
Sections 117, 118 and 119 of the Land Use and Spatial Planning Act 2016 (Act 925) are clear on the sanctions to be meted out to developers who build without development/planning permit.

The District Physical Planner took the opportunity to educate the various developers as to what constituted an unauthorized development. As part of the education he stated that section 118 of the LUSPA act explains an Unauthorised development to include
(a) a physical development that has been or is being carried out
without a permit contrary to this Act; or
(b) the conditions of a permit are not complied with.
As a result he urged the developers to visit the assembly anytime they intend to undertake physical development to avert sanctions from the district assembly.
