Sensitization on Land Use and Spatial Planning

AN ACT to revise and consolidate the laws on land use and spatial planning, provide for sustainable development of land and human settlements through a decentralised planning system, ensure judicious use of land in order to improve quality of life, promote health and safety in respect of human settlements and to regulate national, regional, district and local spatial planning, and generally to provide for spatial aspects of socio economic development and for related matters.

It is upon this law that the Physical planning department of the Jaman North District Assembly has taken it upon themselves to embark on sensitization exercise to educate the general public on the proper procedures to follow in order to develop any any piece of land within the confines of the district.

In their Radio sensitization program, the District Physical Planner on Yankee FM at Sampa outlined to various procedures one has to follow to in the attempt to develop an acquired land.

According to Mr. Justine Dumeh, the District Physical Planner, per the Land Use and Spatial Planning Act 2016, (Act 925), the Local Governance Act 936 and the L.I 2384, it is prohibited to build without a permit
To ensure proper land use and spatial planning, there is a local plan prepared by a professional planner.
