Jaman North District Observes National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving

The President of the Republic of Ghana has dedicated 1st June of every year as a National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving. In line with this new policy, the maiden edition was observed nationwide on Tuesday, 1st July, 2025, under the theme: “Reflect, Reset and Renewal for National Prosperity.”
The Jaman North District actively participated in this nationwide spiritual event. The Christian session of the program was held at Ringward Presbyterian Church, Sampa at 8:30am, led by the Christian Council of Churches in Sampa.

Prayer session
The President of the Local Council of Churches delivered an exhortation, urging all citizens, especially the people of Jaman North, to continually pray for God’s divine protection and guidance for the governance of the nation. He emphasized that irrespective of which political party is in power, after elections, we remain one people and one nation. Drawing inspiration from Nehemiah’s story of rebuilding, he encouraged citizens to work together to build Ghana, fostering a renewed mindset towards national development.

After the exhortation, prayers were offered for the nation, Bono Region, and Jaman North District. The prayers focused on seeking God’s direction in governance, peace, unity, and prosperity. Ministers of God from various denominations including the Catholic Church, Presbyterian Church, SDA, Methodist Church, and others were present to intercede for the district.
The clergy also prayed for the District Chief Executive (DCE) and the NDC Party Constituency Executives, committing their leadership to God for wisdom and strength.

In his address, the District Chief Executive touched on the theme of the day, stating:
“As we give thanks for the progress we’ve made, the challenges we’ve overcome, and the lessons we’ve learned, our resilience as a nation has been tested and confirmed. As we look to the future, we must reset our priorities to focus on the well-being of all Ghanaians. Let’s prioritize unity, economic development, education, and healthcare to ensure every citizen has access to opportunities and resources.”
He further added:
“May this moment of thanksgiving mark a renewal of our commitment to Ghana’s prosperity. Let’s renew our dedication to integrity, accountability, and transparency as we work together to build a brighter future. Let us emerge from this thanksgiving service with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to building a prosperous Ghana. May God bless John Dramani Mahama, the Nation Builder, for this ideology, and may God bless Ghana. Long live the people of Jaman North.”

Present at the service were the District Director of Education, District Health Director, Immigration Commander, District Police Commander, District Fire Commander, heads of departments, staff of the District Assembly, market women, hairdressers, and members of the community.

The event ended with a renewed commitment from all attendees to play their part in promoting peace, unity, and development in their respective communities and Ghana as a whole.
