JAMAN NORTH DISTRICT HOLDS INTER-SCHOOLS QUIZ COMPETITION TO MARK GHANA’S 68TH INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

In commemoration of Ghana’s 68 Independence Day celebration, the Jaman North District Assembly, in collaboration with the District Education Directorate, organized an inter-schools quiz competition among five selected senior high schools in the district. The event was in line with the directive from the Bono Regional Minister to mark the occasion with educational activities under the theme: “Reflect, Review, and Reset.”

The participating schools included Nafana Presby Senior High School (NASEC) at Sampa, Sumaman Senior High School (SUMASS) at Suma-Ahenkro, Goka Senior High Technical School (GOSTECH) at Goka, Diamono Senior High School at Duadaso No. 2, and Duadaso No.1 Senior High School (DUHIGH).
Opening Addresses
Before the start of the competition, the District Director of Education addressed the audience, emphasizing the significance of the quiz in educating the younger generation on Ghana’s history. He commended the District Assembly for facilitating the event and encouraged students to take pride in their country’s achievements and challenges.
The District Coordinating Director, who doubles as the Acting District Chief Executive, also delivered an address. He reiterated the theme, stating, “As we review our burden, we acknowledge the progress Ghana has made as a nation. The achievements in education, healthcare, and economic development are enormous. However, there are still challenges that our future needs to reset.” He further urged all citizens to contribute towards resetting the nation for equality and sustainable development.

Quiz Competition Breakdown
The competition was moderated by Miss Mariam Adde as the Quiz Mistress, with Mr. Gary Korang serving as the timekeeper. The quiz comprised three rounds:





- Round 1: Political history of Ghana
- Round 2: Current affairs
- Round 3: Sports
At the end of each round, the scores were as follows:
Round 1:
- NASEC – 11
- DIAMONO SHS – 0
- DUHIGH – 0
- SUMASS – 3
- GOSTECH – 5
Round 2:
- NASEC – 9
- DIAMONO SHS – 0
- DUHIGH – 3
- SUMASS – 9
- GOSTECH – 7
Round 3:
- NASEC – 8
- DIAMONO SHS – 3
- DUHIGH – 6
- SUMASS – 10
- GOSTECH – 6
The final scores were:
- Nafana Presby Senior High School (NASEC) – 28 points (1st Place)
- Sumaman Senior High School (SUMASS) – 22 points (2nd Place)
- Goka Senior High Technical School (GOSTECH) – 18 points (3rd Place)
- Duadaso No.1 Senior High School (DUHIGH) – 9 points
- Diamono Senior High School – 3 points

Awards and Closing Remarks
At the end of the competition, Nafana Presby Senior High School emerged as the overall winner with 28 points, followed by Sumaman Senior High School with 22 points, and Goka Senior High Technical School securing third place with 18 points.
The District Director of Education, who chaired the event, commended the participants for their outstanding performances and encouraged the trailing schools to keep striving for excellence. Certificates were presented to all participants, with the top three schools receiving cash prizes along with their certificates.
