The exercise formed part of the President’s National Sanitation Day initiative, which dedicates the first Saturday of every month to sanitation activities nationwide. It aimed at keeping Sampa clean and instilling good sanitation practices among residents.

Key areas covered during the exercise included the Sampa Market, Lorry Station, main streets, Langa Street, and Gazebo Street, where heaps of refuse were cleared, drains desilted, and public spaces swept.

Speaking after the clean-up, the District Chief Executive, Hon. He emphasised that sanitation is a shared responsibility and called on community members to avoid indiscriminate littering to prevent disease outbreaks.

He added that the Assembly remains committed to ensuring a clean and healthy environment for all, in line with the government’s national sanitation goals.

“The Assembly will continue to support and enforce sanitation by-laws to maintain the beauty and hygiene of our District capital and communities,” he assured.
